Snowy Cannonballs at Sunset

This is the way winter is supposed to look! In early January of 2021 I photographed sunset alpenglow over the peaks of Franconia Notch in the White Mountains. It's only snowed about eight inches since the big rain on Christmas Day but all that snow seems to be stuck on the trees in the mountains. There are some winters where we get a ton of snow but it never sticks to the trees and it never looks as "wintery" to me so I really loved seeing this despite the low snow.

The rounded peaks in the middle of this shot are known as the Cannonballs and they sit in between North Kinsman and Cannon Mountain. There's a trail that runs from North Kinsman to Cannon that I would love to hike some day.
